Museum of Modern Art
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in the late morning at 10:30 am. You will leave the old town and drive to the Plaza de la Cultura, the cultural square, where you will visit the Museum of Modern Art. There, the works of the most important Dominican artists of the 20th and 21st centuries are displayed on three floors.
Old Town
Afterwards, you drive back towards the old town. Here, you will take a walk and dedicate yourself to a form of artistic expression that has a high social status in the Dominican Republic: mural painting. About five blocks of houses not far from the Zona Colonial were decorated with 13 murals depicting scenes from Dominican history on behalf of the city administration. The works were executed by Dominican artists, some of whom are internationally known. Before you continue your tour of Santo Domingo's art scene, you will have a light lunch. Afterwards, you will visit a private museum, housed in a beautifully restored colonial building, which houses a selected collection of works by Dominican and European artists who had a relationship with the Dominican Republic. Afterwards, you will have time to review the impressions of the last few hours over a coffee in the picturesque courtyard of the museum. Finally, you will visit a gallery for arts and crafts. If you wish, you can buy a souvenir here, guaranteed to be of higher quality and more original than in any souvenir shop. Then return to your hotel.
